How It Works:
We Meet You Where You Are
Coaching happens in real-life settings where skills actually matter such as your home, the grocery store, on the bus, in the community. We don't just talk about skills; we practice them together until they stick.
Hands-On, Practical Learning
- Demonstrate: We show you how to do something
- Practice Together: We do it side-by-side
- Coach: We provide guidance while you do it
- Independence: You do it on your own with us nearby
- Mastery: You do it confidently without support
Individualized Approach
Everyone learns differently. We adapt our teaching style to match how YOU learn best, whether that's visual demonstrations, step-by-step written instructions, repetition, or learning by doing.
Progress at Your Pace
There's no timeline or pressure. We celebrate wins, learn from setbacks, and adjust our approach based on what's working. This is YOUR journey.
Typical Session Structure:
60-90 Minute Sessions
Most coaching sessions last 60-90 minutes, depending on the skill and setting. Some skills (like grocery shopping or using public transit) naturally take longer than others (like learning to use a calendar app).
Flexible Scheduling
We schedule sessions at times that work for your life—evenings, weekends, whatever fits your schedule.
Real-World Settings
- Your home (for cooking, cleaning, organization)
- Community locations (stores, banks, library, bus stops)
- Virtual sessions (for some skills like online safety or budgeting apps)
Pricing:
Hourly Rate: $60-75/hour
Package Pricing (Save 10%):
- 10 sessions: $550 (normally $600-750)
- 20 sessions: $1,080 (normally $1,200-1,500)
Recommended Frequency:
- 1-2 sessions per week for consistent skill development
- More frequent for intensive skill-building
- Less frequent for maintenance and check-ins
What Makes Us Different:
Real-World Practice, Not Just Classroom Learning
We don't sit in an office talking about skills. We go to the store, ride the bus, cook in your kitchen—wherever the skill is actually needed.
Patient & Encouraging
Progress isn't always linear. We celebrate small wins, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward without judgment.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach
We don't try to make you "act normal." We work with your strengths, accommodate your needs, and help you develop skills in ways that work for YOUR brain.
Focus on What Matters to YOU
You choose which skills to work on based on your goals, not a predetermined curriculum. This is about YOUR independence, YOUR way.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How long does coaching take?
It depends on the skill and your starting point. Some skills can be learned in 3-5 sessions; others take months of practice. We'll give you realistic timelines during your consultation.
What if I fail or make mistakes?
Mistakes are part of learning! We create a safe space to practice, mess up, and try again. There's no judgment, just support and encouragement.
Can family members be involved?
Absolutely! We can include family members in sessions if that's helpful, or we can work one-on-one and then share strategies with your family.
Do you provide transportation?
For some skills (like learning to use public transit), we can meet you at locations or accompany you. For others, you'll need your own transportation to session locations.
“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up.” -Stephen Hawking
